The easiest way to find out about tax lien/deed sales for a particular area requires that you never even have to leave your pajamas.
Log onto the internet and do a search for "tax sale" and the county that you are interested in. Several states/counties have
automated their systems so that bids can be received via the internet but most states have not. Do the search and determine
which counties will be having tax sales. It may help to have a list of the particular state's counties handy to refer from.
In
some cases the county will list those properties being offered. In others, you may have to contact that county's tax assessors
office to get the details of the sale. In addition to receiving information on properties the tax assessors office will be able
to provide the specific time and date of sale, location, bidding method and any details that the tax assessor's office finds relevant.
Some states employ the services of law firms to handle the details of the sale. The name of the law firm will normally be supplied
by the tax assessors office. Texas is one such state.
Most counties have websites and from here you can easily link to
your county's tax assessor. In some cases, the tax sale is called a Sheriff's Sale or Sheriff's Tax Sale so you may need to
add these keywords to your search.
You can contact the Assessor via snail mail and there will be an address on the website to do so. The website may also have
the option to send an email to request information which simplifies the process. The website might not even mention the sale
relying on word of mouth or direct inquiries so do not get discouraged.
Some states require that you send in a nominal fee to
obtain a copy of the list. For your money will receive a CD with the entire list, any particular paperwork that needs be filled
out, and rules and procedures for the bidding. The state with the highest fee that I am aware of, exceeding $100, is New York.

great way to find tax liens/deeds is to visit Foreclosure.com. Their interactive map makes finding tax properties a snap.
