Currently, due to the economic reforms occuring there, Latin American stocks have been seeing a surge in popularity.  Funds that specialize in these stocks have been blessed with huge returns.  Regional/Single-country and Diversified Global funds have been doing well lately.  Large company value funds have always done well but current returns are only about half those of the Regional and Single-country funds.

 

Choosing a fund is an individual preference and should not be based on returns alone.  Due to current world conflicts it is recommended that you choose a global diversified fund with a history of solid returns, low expenses and without a large collection of stock from regions in conflict.  Be wary of Latin American funds that, even though hot right now, might take a large tumble if Hugo Chavez nationalizes and privitizes all companies in his country.
